The following two obituaries are from Nanci Remington: "BLOOMINGDALE-Charles Remington, 83, prominent pioneer resident of this community and member of the Masonic lodge 60 years, died Tuesday at his home three miles northeast of here. The oldest of four children in the family of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Remington, he was born in Hillsdale June 17, 1852. While he was a child, his parents traveled in covered wagon to Iowa. Later the, family moved to this locality. Mr. Remington was married July 4, 1873, to Miss Ann Joy. He leaves his widow and two children, Claude, residing at home; Merle, Watervliet. He also leaves four grandchildren; his brother, Edwin, Bloomingdale, and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Penfold and Mrs. Helen Shattuck. Mr. Remington was a life member of the Masonic lodge and charter member of the O. E. S. chapter. Services will be held under Masonic auspices in the Christian church at 2 Thursday, with the Rev. C. M. Pease officiating. Burial will be in Spring Grove. The Bloomingdale Leader Bloomingdale, MI Thursday, October 31, 1935 "Funeral services will be held Saturday [today] at 2 o'clock at the Christian Church under the auspices of Bloomingdale Lodge F. and A. M. for Charles Remington, 83, who passed away at his house three miles north east of this village Thursday [Tuesday] morning. He was the oldest child of Charles E. and Esther Remington and was born in Hillsdale county, June 17, 1852. When a small child, he went with his parents by covered wagon to Iowa, where they resided about a year, returning to Michigan and settling near Bloomingdale where he has lived since. July 4, 1873, he was united in marriage with Miss Anna Joy, whom, with two sons, Claude, living at home, and Merle of Watervliet, survive. He also leaves 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, also a brother, Edwin and two sisters, Mrs. Clara Penfield and Mrs Helen Shattuck, all of Bloomingdale. He had been a member of the local Masonic lodge over 60 years and a few years ago was made a life member of the order. He was also a charter member of Bloomingdale Chapter No. 158, O. E. S.
