(Note from Alan Battams: For all their children christened up to 1817, father Gilbert was a stockinger, mother Elizabeth, of Stockwell Gate. For children after 1817, father Gilbert was a stockinger, mother Elizabeth, of Bancroft Lane.) In the 1841 census, Gilbert & Elizabeth are living at 10 Bancroft Lane. Also in the household are sons Robert & Samuel, as well as Robert's wife Ann and their five children: George, Robert, Harriet, Edward, & Charles. Nearby, at 11 & 12 Bancroft, are living two other sons, John & Gilbert, and their families. In 1851, Gilbert is not there but Elizabeth Slack is age 73, still on Bancroft Lane, a pauper/winder. In the 1813 Rate Book for Mansfield, p. 62, a Gilbert Slack living in Ratcliffe Gate paid 1/10 - 1/2 pence (one shilling ten and a half pence). In the 1920 census he also appears to be the Francis Remington, age 38 MI widower, living at Bergland, Ontonagon, MI, working for a the Worcester Logging Company, along with his brother Arthur. A William Remington is also there, but he may or may not be their brother, William. In 1930, Henry is with his second wife Anna, and they are living at Milwaukee, Milwaukee Co., WI.
