| Romeo was mentally retarded. He may be the "Rooney" Remington who is listed as an inmate age 57 at the State Infirmary in the 1930 Federal Census. His age is correct. In 1920 he is Romey Remington, age 48, at the State Infirmary. | Remington, Romeo (I06470)

| Rosa was d/o Henry Dennis Adams and Mary Ann Baker. (source: Leigh Young Bundick, posting on Accomack County, VA message board at Rootsweb, 10 Sep 2003) Additional posting from Leigh Young Bundick: "My mother was a Berry born in Gargatha, Accomack Co., VA. Her father was George R. Berry (G.R.), his father was George Washington Berry, and his father was Charles P. Berry b. 1811 VA. I suspect they may be children of John H. Berry (alias Hickman) who married Mary Pettit on 2/13/1787 Accomack Co, VA but still researching this angle. . . the Berry family migrated to Acomack Co VA prior to 1700 from County Donegal in Ireland." (Accomack Co, VA message board at Rootsweb 10 Sep 2003) | Adams, Rosa Lillian (I22541)

| Rose died at age 17. | Remington, Rose (I15778)
| Rose Holden is mentioned in her mother's will dated 13 March 1749. At her funeral Elder John Gorton preached on Hebrews 9:27. Rose's will mentions her son Randall and daughters Sarah (w/o John Wells), Frances Holden, & Barbara Greene (who has a daughter Mary Greene). | Wickes, Rose (I04911)
| Rosy was the first cousin of our ancestor Hiram Greene. She was killed by her husband in a fit of insanity. Her grave is in East Greenwich Cemetery #72, off Division St. He is said to be buried in an unmarked grave in Coventry. Rosy's gravestone was erected in 1857 by her daughter Abby W. G. (see cemetery database). | Wickes, Rose "Rosy" (I04506)
| ROUNDS David, Jr., of David and Hannah, and Hannah King, of Benjamin and Mary; m. by Rev. David Rounds, Apr 7 1760. | Family F10703
| Rouse's year of birth does not appear in the records, so I have roughly estimated it. He and his brother Gideon were baptized on the same day. Rouse Northup witnessed the 16 Jan 1775 will of Samuel Slocum of Jamestown. | Northup, Rouse (I13960)
| Rowland was a son of William Robinson. | Robinson, Rowland (I09903)
| Ruel's parentage has never been proven, but various reliable sources have placed him in this family group. (This needs more research to confirm.) During the Revolutionary War, Ruel served in Captain Daniel Jenkes's Company, as well as several short enlistments. He was at Warwick, able to bear arms, in the 1777 military census. He was also a private in Col. Elliott's Regiment in 1776, pay due 26 pounds, 11 shillings, 5 pence. The name is also spelled Reuel. It is a Bible name meaning "the shepherd" or "friend of God" or "God is his friend." (for more information see: http://www.reference-guides.com/isbe/R/REUEL/e ) | Remington, Ruel (I05286)
| Rufus is mentioned as a son, deceased, in the will of his father Abial, dated 18 Dec 1794. | Tripp, Rufus (I17511)
| Rufus's gravestone give his years as 1792-1866. The 1830 Federal Census shows Rufus Remington at Rodman, Jefferson Co., NY. The household consists of: 1 male <5, 3 males 5<10, 1 male 10<15, 1 male 30<40, 1 female <5, and 1 female 30<40. The 1840 Federal Census at Wallingford, Rutland Co., VT, lists Rufus Remmington Jr., Truman Remmington, Rufus Remmington, and Jonathan Remmington (age 20-30 OR age 60-70?) these last two listed and probably living next to each other. Is this Jonathan Rufus's son, and if so, who are the older individuals with him? Amos Gorton, husband of Rhoda Remington, is also listed with the above Remingtons. In the 1850 Federal Census, Rufus & Rebecca are both listed as age 60, living at Wallingford, Rutland Co., VT, near Amos, Rufus Jr., and John J. B. Remington and their families. In the household is Rebecca, age 10. I am assuming she is their youngest. In the Federal Census of 1860, Rufus & Rebecca, ages 65 & 63, are still at Wallingford. Next to them are John J. Remington and family. Including Rufus in this family group as a son of Jonathan & Martha needs confirmation. I obtained this connection from Rootsweb's Worldconnect and other genealogies which have been sent to me. Information from subsequent generations was obtained from census data. The 1850 census at Wallingford lists several other young adult Remingtons who may be children of this family: Octavia 22 (1828), Prudence and Amy 18 (1832), and Thankful 16 (1834). Overseer Of the Poor Report --Town of Wallingford: Expenses of Poor from March 6, 1860 to March 1, 1861; Expenses of Poor not at the Farm: Rufus Remington and family, 3, $1.25 source: http://www.poorhousestory.com/VT_Rutland_WALLINGFORD_PoorReport1861.htm Submitted by: Patty Pickett Expenses of Poor from March 1 1861 to March 1 1862; Expenses of Poor not at the Farm: Rufus Remington and family, 3, $6.43 source: http://www.poorhousestory.com/VT_Rutland_WALLINGFORD_PoorReport1862.htm Submitted by: Patty Pickett | Remington, Rufus (I13380)
| Rufus, a Quaker, had come to Portsmouth, RI, from New Amsterdam to escape persecution by the Dutch there. He later went to Warwick. (See "The Greenes of Rhode Island," p. 67) | Barton, Rufus (I03632)
| Russell & Rachel lived in Cranston. Cranston Probate Bk. 2, p. 315: whereas Russell Remington late of Cranston, deceased, died Intestate, the court appoints Mrs. Rachel Remington, widow of Deceased, administratrix; dated 9 August 1817. At least one person has Abby (Remington) Vose as a daughter of this couple; she was born c 12 Feb 1809. This needs more research to confirm. | Remington, Russell (I08910)
| Russell is my cousin 14 different ways, with 5th cousin being the closest. | Allen, Russell G. (I25645)
| Russell was born on a Sunday. | Remington, Russell Chester (I00052)
| Ruth & Richard were twins. | Remington, Ruth (I08956)
| Ruth is mentioned as a daughter, and wife of Obediah Dennis, in the will of her father, Ebenezer Fish, dated 27 Nov 1773. | FISH, Ruth (I22390)
| Ruth is mentioned in her father's 1777 will as wife of William Wood. | Gorton, Ruth (I04049)
| Ruth is mentioned in her father's will. | Fisher, Ruth (I13270)
| Ruth is mentioned in the will of her grandfather Enoch Remington. Boyd Scott Remington has her birth date as 28 Dec 1792, but this is not possible if her brother was born in May of 1793. In the 1870 Federal Census, I believe this is the Ruth Kent, age 76, residing in East Providence, RI. This would make her birth year c.1793. In the household with her are Russel D. Kent, age 51 (probably her son ?); Abby ann Kent, age 51 (probably Russel's wife ?); Clara A., 20; and Anna R., 15. All are born in RI, except Russel in MA. | Remington, Ruth (I04599)
| Ruth left this marriage around 1933, remarried five times, and died in Florida at about 88 years of age. Based on data from the 1930 Federal Census (she was age 16) and the SSDI, I am making an assumption that this entry is for her (needs further research to confirm): Name: RUTH D GILLESPIE SSN: 037-07-3992 Last Residence: 28209 Charlotte, Mecklenburg, NC Born: 6 Dec 1913 Last Benefit: Died: 12 Oct 1999 State (Year) SSN issued: RI (Before 1951 ) | Coulthurst, Ruth D. (I14355)
| Ruth lived in Barrington, RI, for most of her life. She was president of the Girl Scouts of RI, and was very active in that organization from the 1950s to the late 1970s. | Remington, Ruth M. (I14794)
| Ruth Remington is still living at East Greenwich in the 1860 Federal Census. With her is Almyra Briggs, age 48. For the time being, I am making an assumption that she is a sister of Mahitable Greene, who married Dexter's brother Warren. Mahitable is a daughter of William & Elizabeth Greene. The death entry for Ruth says she is a daughter of William & Elza Greene. Elza may have been an abbreviation for Elizabeth. This Greene family needs more research. If Ruth is in fact a daughter of this family, she may have been either a twin to Phebe, or else born in 1802. | Greene, Ruth (I13671)
| Ruth was a daughter of William Tew and Jane Carr, and thus was a sister of Sarah and Jane, wives of her husband's brother James. | Tew, Ruth (I02228)
| Ruth was of South Kingstown. She probably was d/o George & Elizabeth. | Babcock, Ruth (I05939)
| Ruth's children are all mentioned in the 1790 will of her father Stephen Shippee. | Shippee, Ruth (I01961)
| Ruth's name as the wife of Thomas James was given to me by John McEwen. I have not personally researched this to confirm it. | JONES, Ruth (I26122)
| Ruth's parents were Daniel Coggeshall and Phebe Durfee-Gray. | Coggeshall, Ruth (I15509)
| Ruth's surname may have been Clay, Clap, Cary, or Clary. | Clay, Ruth (I07671)
| S. A. Smith, age 24 GA, (Simeon ) is listed as living with his parents and siblings at Thomas, GA, in 1860. His wife, G, is there with the family also. In 1870 S. A. & Georgia Smith are living at Valdosta, Lowndes Co., GA. They have three children: Thomas, Susan, & Georgia. | Smith, Simeon A. Jr. (I14472)
| Sadly, this couple had several babies who died young. In the 1910 census, Frederick M. Remington 29 NY and Ida M. 19 RI are living in Providence. They have been married three years, and have had two children, but neither of them is living. In the 1915 RI state census, the family is on Dodge St. in Providence as follows: Frederick T. Remington 37, Ida A. 23, Frederick T. Jr. 3, and Lillian E. 2. The WW I draft registration card for Frederick Theodore Remington gives his dob as 7 May 1882, age 36, and address as 40 Lyman Ave., Norwood, Kent Co., RI. He works at Brown & Sharpe Mfg. Co. as reamer/repairer. He has blue eyes and black hair. Wife Ida M. Remington. In 1920 the family is still in Providence: Fred T. Remington 38, Ida M. 28, and Fred T. Jr. 8. Fred Sr. is a machinist in a machine shop. In 1925 Frederick has a different wife, and by 1930 Ida has also remarried and Frederick Jr. is with her. In the 1925 RI state census, the family is in Providence as follows: Frederick T. Remington 42 NY, Cora N. F. 40 RI, John D. 64 NY, Martha A. 53 MA, and Clara A. Sholes 70 MA mother-in-law. In 1930 the Remington family is in Providence as follows: Frederick Remington 46 NY, Cora 44 RI, John 72 NY, and Martha 68 MA; also Clara Sholes, mother-in-law 75 MA. In 1935, living at 59 Warren, Providence, Frederick is a salesman for refined oil; Cora N. is a tool inspector at Brown & Sharpe. With them are parents John B. and Martha A. Remington. In 1940 the family is still in Providence as follows: Fred T. Remington 56 NY, Cora N. 54 RI, and John B. 81 NY, father, widower. | Remington, Frederick Theodore (I29402)
| Sally may have been a sister of Marcy Jenckes, second wife of Walker, brother of Sylvester Ambrose Armington. | Jenckes, Sally (I12785)
| Sally R. Johnson is in the 1850 US Census at Cranston, RI, at age 30, along with her husband Nicholas Johnson, 42, a mariner. Also in the home are Sally Greene, age 85; David Snow, age 30, a shoemaker; and Sarah M. Olden, age 10. Apparently in the same household, although on the next census page, are Richard T. Remington, age 27, a jeweller; Sophia Remington, age 26; and their children Isabella 4, John R. 2, and Nicholas J. 1 month. Could Sarah M. Olden possibly be a daughter by a first marriage? | Remington, Sally Rhodes (I02413)
