| Sarah Remington, wife of John, died at Newport in her 41st year (US Chronicle of 7 Jun 1792, in Arnold's). | Hopkins, Sarah (I04687)
| Sarah Sherman as the name of Josiah's wife came to me from Karen Hermann, email dated 5 Apr 2005. This agrees with the marriage intention filed at Granville, MA: REMINGTON, Josiah and Sally Sherman, int. Feb. 14, 1807 (Marriages, Granville). | Sherman, Sarah "Sally" (I18596)

| Sarah was the widow of Isaiah Streeter when she married Joseph Remington. After Joseph's death, she applied for a widow's pension as Isaiah Streeter's widow. See his pension file. In the Federal Census she is listed as Sarah Raymington 85 RI, living at Hartland, VT; with her are Betsy Crook 54 and Lucia Crook 14, both b VT. She is listed next to (apparently) her remarried son-in-law Reuben Lamphear. | Kimpton, Sarah (I10211)

| Sarah's father, Robert Stanton, was admitted as a freeman of Newport, RI, in 1639. So, if she was actually born in 1640, it must have been in Newport. If she was born earlier, she may have been born in England. | STANTON, Sarah (I02334)
| Sarah's four children were mentioned in the 1850 will of her father Ezekiel. | Whitford, Sarah Nichols (I01976)
| Sarah's maiden name as Bailey was obtained from a genealogy at Rootsweb's Worldconnect, and has not been verified by me. The marriage records of the children idenfy her as Sarah. | Bailey, Sarah (I18624)
| Sarah's name was obtained from the RI Death Index records of sons Dexter and Warren. She is not mentioned in Benedict's will, so it can be assumed that she had died. Assuming that she was Benedict's wife when he applied for and received his Revolutionary War Pension, she was age 58 on 22 Aug 1820, when he gave a sworn statement. | Unknown, Sarah (I13670)
| Sarah's will, dated 26 April 1708 at Warwick, says she is a widow stricken in years, of Pawtucket, of Providence. The will mentions sons Israel (eldest), Stephen, & Elisha (youngest); daughters Elizabeth (Greene), Sarah (Carpenter), & Phebe (w/o Benjamin Smith of Warwick); 11 or 12 granddaughters, and one grandson. | Smith, Sarah (I03944)
| Sarah, of Thomas, received as a member of the Tiverton Baptist Church, 13 Aug 1820. (see Arnold's "Vital Record of RI" -- Church Records) Apparently her Aunt Mary had been baptized there also, in 1781. I have made an assumption that the marriage entry for Sally & Henry is for this Sarah/Sallie. And, the death record for Sally R. Dedrick names her parents as Thomas and Alice Remington (see familysearch.org). See notes for Henry. Complicating this is one additional difference: the records in New Bedford say that Henry married Sally Remington. The newspaper Columbian Centinal reported that Henry married Eliza Remington. I tend to believe the official record. | Remington, Sarah "Sallie" (I05160)
| Sarah, probably Nicholas's third wife, is mentioned in his will. | Unknown, Sarah (I13519)
| Scituate Land Evidence Vol. 3, p. 278 records a deed dated 28 March 1747, in which Stephen Remington and Lydia R. his wife sell "to Thomas Barnes of Glocester 361 1/2 acres bordering the southerly side of Wilkinson's land, part of the original right of William White and of Benjamin Herington." Also, an earlier deed dated 31 Dec 1742 identifies Lydia as "Lydia Remington, formerly Rhodes, daughter of Peleg Rhoads." The following is from the notes of Mary E. Rice, concerning a document in Cranston land evidence: "This proves that Lydia Rhodes was d/o Peleg and she married as first wife Stephen Remington, he married 2nd Mercy Fenner" . . . The deed reads "I, Lidia Remington, & Stephen Remington . . . deed to Christopher Sheldon, of Providence, mariner, the house and lot/land in Pawtuxet where we now dwell, near to the Pawtuxet Bridge." It mentions a bordering lot formerly laid out by Peleg Rhodes, deceased . . . "lots and tracts of land above-mentioned were given to me by my honorable Father Peleg Rhodes who was formerly of Providence but now deceased" . . . dated 15 June 1756, signed by Lydia Remington & Stephen Remington. | Rhodes, Lydia (I04218)
| Scituate Land Evidence Vol. 8 p. 39 records a transaction in which Jonathan Remington received a deed on 11 April 1785 from Christopher and Wait Lippitt. Probably it refers to this Jonathan. Since his great-grandmother was Martha Lippitt, probably Christopher was a relative. The following may pertain to this Jonathan: In the 1800 Federal Census, he is listed at Scituate as Jonathan Remmington (same page as Joseph Remington), with a household as follows: 1 FWM 45+, 2 FWF <10, 1 FWF 10-15, 1 FWF 26-44, and 1 FWF 45+. In 1810 he is listed at Scituate as Johnathan Remington, but the household consists of just an adult male and an adult female. On 20 March 1776, Elisha & Desire Clark of North Kingstown purchased land in Exeter from Jonathan Remington of Warwick, yeoman. Was it this Jonathan? If so, he would have been about 33. But see other Jonathan Remingtons on this tree. Boyd Scott Remington shows two marriages for him, so I am entering them, although no sources are noted (needs further research). | Remington, Jonathan (I04072)

| Sebastian was a son of Richard Lewis and Hester Warner. (source: M.K. & Barry Miles in Miles Files Version 7, Eastern Shore Public Library website) In the Federal Census of 1880, Sebastin & Permelia Lewis, ages 52 & 32, are living at Accomack, VA. With them are Frank Lewis 14 and John W. Lewis 8, both identifed as sons. | Lewis, Sebastian (I22535)

| See "A Line of Descent from Thomas Stafford of Warwick" in the RI Genealogical Register, Vol. 17, by A. G. Beaman. According to Beaman, Thomas came to Plymouth Colony about 1626, then to Providence, and soon afterward to Warwick where he lived the rest of his life. Note copied by Trish Harmon, posted on RIKENT mailing list: "Thomas, father of Samuel, was in Plymouth, Massachusetts as early as 1626, of Portsmouth and Newport, Rhode Island in 1638, then of Providence, Rhode Island where he constructed the first grist mill at the mouth of the Moosausick River; he moved to Old Warwick from Providence in 1650 and at the head of Mill Cove built a grist mill for the settlers. Was admitted freeman in 1638 (source: Stukely Westcott book by J. Bullock)." | STAFFORD, Thomas (I03305)

| See birth in James N. Arnold's "Vital Record of RI"; I am guessing that it belongs to this family group, and that she may have been named after her father's first wife who died. However, I have not yet been able to resolve all the different John Remingtons with wives named Abigail & Susannah. | Remington, Susannah (I04745)
| See East Greenwich will dated 5 Oct 1732, proved 4 Nov 1732. This names these sons and daughters. There were two younger children, Henry and Rebeckah, who died in early infancy. Subsequent children received the same names. I have estimated his birth year, pending further research. | STRAIGHT, Henry Jr. (I01247)
