    • In the 1841 census William & Hannah and the four oldest (living) children were at Hopkin Lane, Hucknall-Under-Huthwaite near Sutton.

      In 1851 they have six children, including Joseph, our ancestor.

      In 1861 the family is at Forest Land End, Sutton-in-Ashfield, with the five youngest children. It is noted that Nathan is mentally retarded.

      In 1871 they are back in Hucknall-Under-Huthwaite and have with them their unmarried son Nathan, whose occupation is given as "moulder"; in 1881 they are at Mansfield Rd., Sutton-in-Ashfield, where Nathan is a "coal miner"; and in 1891 he is simply "unmarried." The three of them are still together, living on Mansfield Rd., Sutton.
