  • Notes 
    • The book "Little Compton Families" by B. F. Wilbour p. 410 says that this John Manchester married first Nancy, then Lucy. I have not been able to verify this with certainty, as there were several John Manchesters in Tiverton around this time. However, for the present I have attached Nancy and Lucy as his two wives.

      A query posted on the Manchester mailing list at rootsweb.com gives John & Lucy's marriage date as 18 March 1804, Tiverton, no source noted.

      It appears that this John Manchester may very well be our ancestor, based on the opinion of genealogist John Redfern (contact information available on request).
