- According to Alden G. Beaman's "RI Vital Record, New Series" Vol 7, p. 236, Dr. Cyrus G. Place was the husband of Rosannah Matteson (1 Aug 1840 - 6 Apr 1863), who died at age 22. She was a daughter of Oliver & Mercy (Manchester) Matteson. However, these dates would make her mother Mercy about 60 when she was born. A check of the RI Cemetery Database shows Rosannah's date of death as 6 April 1836, which makes her year of birth c. 1814. This is most likely the correct year of birth. She is buried in the Oliver Matteson Lot, Historical Cemetery #20 on Weaver Hill Rd. in West Greenwich. In the same lot is the grave of a "Place infant," born and died in 1835.
