In the 1850 Federal Census, Joseph & Sarah R. Hull, ages ages 34 & 33, have two children: Alfred G. 5, & Phebe C. 10 months. The family is living at Jamestown.
In the 1860 Federal Census, Joseph & Sarah R. Hull, both 43, are still at Jamestown with four children in the household: Alfred G. 14, Charles 9, Edward 4, & Oliver A. 3. Phebe C. Hull is age 10, working as a domestic and living in the home of John & Lucy Gardner.
In 1870, Phebe is 20 and living with her parents, but the other children are elsewhere. Oliver R. is age 13, working as a farm laborer and living with George & Sarah Carr; Charles G. is also a farm laborer, age 19, living with the family of Benjamin Cottrell; Edward is age 14, also working as a farm laborer and living with John & Lucy Gardner. An Alfred Hull, age 26, is working as a farm laborer at Cranston, RI, living with the Rodney F. Dyer household; this may be Joseph & Sarah's oldest son.
In 1880, Joseph & Sarah R. Hull are both 63, and daughter Phebe is age 30, living with, along with grandson Frederick R. Hull, 4.
