Notes - An online genealogy at Rootsweb has his first name as Jacob, but that is incorrect. It comes from the 1920 Federal Census, but must be a census-taker's error. That year J. Clifford & Hattie are living at Fenton, Genesee Co., MI, and his mother Emma is with them. In the 1930 Federal Census, "Cliford J. Remington" is age 62 and living at 630 Adelaide St. in Fenton, Genesee Co., MI, with his wife "Hariet C." and daughter Marguerite, aged 40, as well as his mother Emma J., aged 84.
In the Federal Census of 15 Apr 1910, J. Clifford Remington and his wife 43 and his wife Harriet 44 are living on Leroy St., at Fenton, Genesee Co., MI. With them are: Lloyd 17, Bryan 15, & John 5; also a servant Peter Dubois 64. Emma Remington, widowed mother of J. Clifford, is next door or with them.
In the 1870 census he is listed as Jay C. Probably the census-taker heard J. C., and wrote it as Jay C.
