Notes - Based on 1830, 1840, and 1850 census data, Thomas probably had at least three, and possibly four, sons: one born 1821-1825, two born 1826-1830, and one born c. 1835. In 1841 he and his wife were living with three sons; possibly an older one had already left home.
In 1830 and 1840, Thomas and family were in Ontario County, NY. By 1850 they were in Hillsdale County, MI: Thomas 66 RI, Elizabeth 60 NJ, & James 16 MI.
A Darius Remington b. c. 1833 is living in Allen, Hillsdale, MI, in 1850, with the Ames family. Mrs. Ames is Eliza Remington b. 1823. Is Darius another son of Thomas? (He may be a son of Orlando & Mary Remington.)
In 1860 Thomas & Elizabeth are 66 and 60, living at Allen, Hillsdale Co., MI, with daughter Minerva 14, Peter Marsh 14, and Ian 6 months. Were these foster children? Living nearby are son James & his wife Elizabeth.
In later years Thomas, a widower, worked as a railroad hand and lived with his son James C. Remington, in Allen Twp, Hillsdale County, MI.
