"Samuel & Almy registered the births of six children at Warwick 1791-1801 . . . 'Amey' Remington petitioned for divorce in Oct. 1805, alleging that her husband 'has left her Bed and has treated her with marked aversion and even contempt' after he became involved in an adulterous affair . . . They agreed that Samuel was to have custody of all but the youngest child . . . John Remington was less than six months old at the time of the divorce . . . 'Amey Remington' was living at Manlius, Onondaga Co., NY, on 18 Jan 1836 when she sold land inherited from Josiah Arnold."

Notes - One online genealogy has his name as Samuel. However, he is listed as Arnold in the 1850, 1860, & 1870 Federal Censuses, where the family is living at Manlius, Onondaga County, NY. The family is living near Hiram & Floyd Remington and their families.

"Arnold Remington was born in Warwick, R. I., in 1795, and married to Nancy Lewis of Lynn, Conn., in 1816. He was one of the four brothers who came to Manlius in 1821, and resided there till his death in 1885. He was engaged in the cotton manufacturing business for several years, afterwards in the mowing machine business, and still later in a foundry and machine shop. He was a reliant, methodical man, whose word could always be trusted, and whose advice in business was often sought; was a member and officer in the M. E. church for over fifty years, a Mason and treasurer of Military Lodge for a long time. In later years he retired from all business, and died at the advanced age of ninety-one. Of his immediate family only one is now living, Mrs. Theodore Stevens of Syracuse."
