In 1860, the family is at Lancaster, Erie Co., NY: Sherman 50, Lucinda 47, Sherman 14, & Alphonso 7. Was the census taker confused in separating Alphonso Sherman into two individuals, omitting Isador born c1853?
In 1870, Sherman & (possibly second wife?) Esther are living at Lancaster, Erie Co., NY. Alonzo S. is 24, Ida is 21 (presumably his wife), and Isador is 17.
In 1870, the census gives Sherman's birthplace as RI. The 1850 census says NY.
