  I believe he must be the Andrew J. Remington who was a Private in the RI 4th Infantry. He died in the Civil War. His name is engraved on the memorial monument on Rt. 116, Scituate, Rhode Island, "To the loyal men of Scituate, 1861 - 1865, died in service."
