      In the 1850 Federal Census, Dennis Whitford is age 84, b.RI, living at Chautauqua, NY; with him is "Harrison" Whitford age 50, b.NY; both farmers. (should be Orrison)

      According to a family history in "History of the Town of North Harmony," Dennis settled on the west shore of Chautauqua Lake in western NY about one and a half miles south of the Narrows.

      The last 14 years of his life he was blind and was cared for by son Orrison who had a farm there.
