- "John Raines, the father of George, after his marriage to Mary Remington, entered the Methodist ministry as a member of the East Genesee conference, and received an appointment to the station of Pultneyville, after which he was a stationed pastor for periods of two or three years, according to the custom of the denomination, at Dansville, Lima, Victor, Geneva, Lyons, Newark, St. Johns church in Rochester, Hedding church in Elmira, Corning, and Alexander street church in Rochester.
