In the 1870 Federal Census, Mary Smith, age 35, is living with her parents Richard & Jane H. Remington, at Hudson, Columbia Co., NY. She has three sons: Alexander, Herbert, & Frank Smith. I am not absolutely sure that Mary's husband was John D. Smith, but he was the only Smith with a wife named Mary of the correct age and location in the 1860 census.
