- Rebecca's husband may have been Capt. Giles Stanton born 11 Sep 1734 s/o John Stanton b 7 Sep 1700 and Ann Slocum b 17 May 1707 md. 1725 (this needs more research to be confirmed).
If so, I believe they had at least three children -- Richard Stanton, mentioned in the 1785 will of Nathaniel Munday, Rebecca's brother; Giles E. Stanton, b RI 1 Apr 1784 (Nantucket records and censuses), d 14 Sep 1854 age 69 New Bedford, md 1805 Hannah Beebe b 18 July 1786 Nantucket d/o Nathan & Elizabeth, and lived on Nantucket; and Rebeckah Stanton d 4 Aug 1776 age 3 mos and 5 days, d/o Capt. Giles and Rebeckah (Newport, RI, Colonial Burial Grounds, p 265).
The 1774 census lists Giles Stanton as a family head at Newport, RI: 2 white males 16+, 5 white males <16, 2 white females 16+, and 1 white female <16, total of 10 in household. This suggests more children, or at least a larger household than is known.
Capt. Giles Stanton of brig Two Friends arrived in NYC from Jamaica 25 June 1759 after 2 months passage.
Jan 1760: Capt. Giles Stanton arrived at Plymouth among several other ship captains who had been taken and mistreated in a barbaric manner by the French.
Capt. Giles Stanton arrived in Newport June 1770 from Hispaniola on the brig Polly.
Possible grandchildren -- interested parties who signed the estate document of Giles E. Stanton in New Bedford in 1854: Sarah S. Macy, Hannah Stanton, William B. Stanton, James E. Stanton, John Stanton, Hannah F. Gorham, Lydia Simmons, Mary B. Gifford, Henry E. Stanton, Elizabeth Matthews (?), David B. Stanton, and Albert G. Stanton, Admin. I don't know what became of Richard Stanton.
