| In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is at Lansingburgh, Rensselaer, NY: Norman 30 NY, Jane 29 Ireland, Senaca 16 NY, Edward 8 NY, Charles 5 NY, Francis 2 NY; Mary Waterman 18 NY and Permilla Wallace 65 VT. Norman is a brush maker. In the 1860 Federal Census, the family is still at Lansingburgh: Norman 47 NY, Jane 42 Ireland, Edward 18 NY, Charles 14 NY, Frances 11 NY, and Harriet 5 NY. Norman's occupation is given as gentleman. In the 1870 Federal Census, the family is still at Lansingburgh: Norman 57 NY, Mary J. 52 Ireland, Harriet 15 NY, and John Cozzens 65 Ireland. Norman is a tax collector. I found the name of Norman's first wife in Seneca's death record at Boston, MA; Norman's birthplace as Lansingburgh also came from this death record. | Remington, Norman E. (I24720)

| In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is at Manchester, Sauk Co., WI: Roswell R. Remington 29 NY, Jane Remington 29 NY, R. J. Remington 6 NY, Julia Remington 4 months NY; and a 31-yr-old woman (name unclear). In the 1860 Federal Census, R. R. Remington & Jane A. Remington are living at Baraboo, Sauk Co., WI, with three children, Roswell, Jane, & Ida. In 1865 they are back in NY, listed at Canandaigua, Ontario Co., NY, with Thaddeus and their three daughters. By 1870 they have returned to Baraboo, WI, where the family consists of Roswell, Jane, Belle, Ida, & May. In 1880 they are still there (he is again listed as R. R. Remington), with daughters Ida & May. Son Roswell is married and living at Prairie De Sac, Sauk Co., WI. | Remington, Roswell R. (I14225)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is in Foster, RI: William Pierce 20, Emeline 23, William A. 1, all born RI. In 1860 they are still in Foster as follows: William Pierce Jr. 29, Emaline 33, William A. 11, Nancy E. 5, Lorenzo E. 3, and Infant (male) 1. The death record, which I am assuming is for the correct individual, identifies his parents as William & Diana Pierce. | Pierce, William (I29019)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is living at Bolton, Warren Co., NY. Ransom & Anne have six children. They are living next to Susanna Davis, age 73 RI; Hanno (?) S. Davis, 28; and Mary & Orange Remington, ages 14 & 10. Nearby are Lindsay & Esther Remington and their family. Possibly Ransom & Lindsay are brothers (this needs more research). Who is Susanna? Might she be their mother? | Davis, Ransom (I15024)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is living at Grand Blanc, Genesee Co., MI. With them are Julia's father, Elihu Remington 73, and Sophia Goff 72. | Walker, Walter B. (I11553)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is living at Hebron, Jefferson Co., WI: George M. 30 NY, Clarrissa 24 NY, Cordelia 6 WI, Martha 3 WI, & Orthos 1 WI. I can't locate George in the census records after 1850. In 1860 there is a George Remington, mechanic (?), b c 1815, boarding at a hotel in Franklin, Delaware Co., NY. In 1870 there is a George Remington, blind, b c 1825, in an institution in Rome, Oneida Co., NY. Also in 1870 there is a couple, George 39 and Clarrissa 30, living at Ashland, Newaygo Co., MI; however, the ages are way off, if it is indeed this couple; but no children are with them. In putting together these family members, I have made an assumption that Clarrissa Remington, age 24, in the 1850 Federal Census, is the same individual as Clara Remington, age 54, in the 1880 Federal Census, when she and son Lyman are living in Chicago, IL. | Remington, George M. (I08547)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is living at Manlius, Onondaga Co., NY: Hiram 49 NY, Frances 47 RI, Martha E. 15 NY, Eugene 11 NY, Frances H. 8 NY (female), Elizabeth A. Earls 19 NY, & Michael Starkton 40 Ireland. | Smith, Hiram (I11611)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is living at Providence, RI, Ward 4. Daniel & Betsy are both age 44. With them are 6 children, Mary A. Briggs (possibly Betsy's sister?), Henry A. Remington 27, and Caleb Remington 23. Daniel's occupation is given as "merchant," and the other 3 Remington men, including his son Edward, are clerks. I am not sure who Henry & Caleb are (needs more research). In the 1880 Federal Census at Providence, RI, Daniel is age 74, widowed, and a cotton broker. Living with him is daughter Kate, age 40, single and keeping house. The cause of death is noted as "oedema of lungs." The RI Cemetery Database gives his birth month as January. | Remington, Daniel (I04109)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is living at Seekonk, Bristol Co., MA. | Munroe, William Smith (I20672)

| In the 1850 Federal Census, there is a Joseph Remington, a carpenter age 34, b. NY, living in Ray, Macomb Co., MI. This may or may not be this individual. At the same time there is another Joseph Remington, a carpenter age 35, b. NY, living in Oxford, Oakland Co., MI, with his wife Alvina and daughter Caroline. He is also of about the right age. | Remington, Joseph (I11560)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, there is a Martin Remington, age 26 NY, living at Meredith, Delaware Co., NY, with the family of Harry & Lucinda Bell. This age would make him born c 1824. It could be this same individual. | Remington, Martin (I11413)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, this couple is living at Becket, Berkshire Co., MA, next to Stephen's parents. In the 1855 MA Census, the family is still at Becket: Stephen A. Remington 32 MA farmer, Emeline P. 31 MA, Ellin L. 5 MA, and Marietta 3 MA. In 1860 they are at Granville, Hampden Co., MA, with their three daughters. In 1870 Stephen A. Remington is age 45, and is still living at Becket, MA. Apparently he is widowed. In the household are Nettie E., 17, and Clara L., 14. They are living near Alonzo and other Remington family members. In 1880 he is still at Becket, next door to John and family, along with his daughter Nettie E. Green, 27, and a boarder, Eddie Tetro. From "Berkshire Co., Mass., Probate Index, 1761 to 1900" page 243: Stephen A. Remington, Becket, Adm., March 1 1892, #17466. | Remington, Stephen Aratus (I06399)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, this couple is living at Watertown, Jefferson, NY. In 1870 they are still there, and in the household is "Bell" age 17. | Remington, Alfred D. (I08794)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, this is the family household: Roderick Rounds 53, Mary Rounds 42, Emeline Manchester 17, William Manchester 23, Lucy A. Manchester 7, Bradford C. Rounds 4, Charles E. Rounds 2, John Rounds 18, & Abraham Rounds 25. (Also see notes for his second wife, Mary H. Dennis.) Roderick's death record identifies his mother as Sarah Rounds; no father is mentioned. The 1800 census has an Alfred Rounds in Tiverton, with 3 free white males under age 10. However, there is no Roderick among the birth records for Alfred's family. Could he be the son of Sarah Rounds, born 16 Feb 1765, Tiverton, to David Rounds Jr. and Hannah? Just speculation. | Rounds, Roderick (I00921)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, this is the family household: Roderick Rounds 53, Mary Rounds 42, Emeline Manchester 17, William Manchester 23, Lucy A. Manchester 7, Bradford C. Rounds 4, Charles E. Rounds 2, John Rounds 18, & Abraham Rounds 25. This is what we today would call a blended family. The other two children, Adeline & Isaac, are living with married sister Roby Rounds and her husband Joseph, at the home of Edward & Elizabeth Wing. The 1860 Federal Census at Tiverton, RI, shows a Mary H. Rounds, age 50, living with Lucy A. 18, Bradford C. 14, and Charles E. 11. If accurate ages, this would mean their years of birth were: 1810, 1842, 1846, 1849. Her death record identifies her as d/o John & Roba. | DENNIS, Mary H. (I00343)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, this Remington family is living at Warwick, RI: George T. 20, Betsey P. 26, & Byron D. 1. | Remington, George Thomas (I09115)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, Thomas & Elizabeth are living at Warwick, Kent, RI. With them are sons Albert G. & John H. C. The death entry at Warwick City Hall says he died on 15 Nov 1853. The graves of Thomas & Elizabeth are in the Remington-Arnold Lot, behind the Stop & Shop at Cowesett Corners. This whole area was part of the original Remington farm, but now is mostly residential and commercial. There is a section of woods behind the shopping center, and that is the location of the family cemetery. | Remington, Thomas (I02819)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, Thomas & Mary are at Suffield, Hartford Co., CT. He is 32 and she is 43. They have two children: Jane & Dexter, ages 9 & 5. In the 1860 Federal Census they are still at Suffield. In 1860 they are still at Suffield: Thomas Remington 42, Mary 52, Jane M. 17, & Dexter F. 14. Two farm laborers are boarding with them. By 1870 their son Dexter is married and has a son George, age 2. George and his new family are living with Thomas & Mary. Also in the household is Sybil Fuller, age 65, probably a relative of Mary's; several farm laborers are also living there. | Remington, Thomas (I08108)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, Uriah Valentine is age 38, living at Delhi, Delaware Co., NY. His wife Eliza is 29, and they have three children: Silvia J. 5, Louisa A. 3, & Lewis H. 1; all born NY. Also in the household are James Valentine, 66, Uriah's father; Tabitha 32, Henry 21, & Hanston 14. Uriah's middle name was probably Remington. | Valentine, Uriah R. (I20317)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William & Almy are both age 46, living in Ward 6 of Providence, RI. William is a butcher. In the household are their 8 children: Charles J. 22, Albert C. 20, Justice S. 18 (Augustus), Mary E. 15, David 12 (Daniel), Esther 8, Alvin 6, & Henry Clay 2. By 1860 the family has moved to Johnston, RI: William & Almy are both 55, and William is still a butcher. Also in the household are son Augustus and his wife Mary B., both age 28; as well as children Mary E. 25, Daniel 21, Esther 19, Alvin I. 15, Robert B. 12, and Pardon L. 4. They are living next door to Charles (81) & Lydia (77) Randall, who in turn are next to Charles & Lydia Randall and their three children. In 1860, Robert seems to be born the same year as Henry in the previous census. Also, is Pardon the son of William or the son of Augustus? In the 1870 Federal Census, William & "Almira" are age 66 and still in Johnston. William is a meat peddlar. Son Albert, age 40, is living with them as well as 6 children of the King family. | Randall, William (I13253)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William & Caroline and family are living at Warwick, RI. In 1860 they are still there, with two daughters in the household: Mercy A. Lewis & Carolina E. Rice. They are next door to son Benjamin and family. | Rice, William (I05281)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William & Jane are living with her parents at their boarding house in Ward 4, Providence, RI. The RI Cemetery Database has William's date of death as 9 Sept 1864. | Remington, William Humphrey (I04602)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William & Lydia Boomer, ages 61 & 54, are living at Tiverton, Newport Co., RI. With them are William H. Boomer, 17, and Adoniram Boomer, 25. William (Sr.) is a carpenter. In the Federal Census of 1860, William & Lydia, ages 71 & 67, are living at Fall River, MA, at that time Newport Co., RI. No profession is given for William. Their birthplaces are given as Fall River and Tiverton. | Boomer, Colonel William (I20450)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William & Sarah are at Henrietta, Monroe, NY, next door to their parents, who are married to each other. | Remington, William Thomas (I08499)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William E. and Sarah Frances Remington, ages 27 and 19, are living in Warwick, RI. It appears that they are living next to Sarah's parents. His second marriage record names his parents as Peleg and Susan. In the 1860 Federal Census, William E. and Caroline Remington, ages 38 and 17, are living in Cranston, RI, Knightsville PO area. William is a mariner. According to a Naval Enlistment form at New Bedford, 15 June 1861, William E. Remington at that time was age 34, born in Warwick, had blue eyes, light brown hair, and dark complexion. and was 5 ft 9 1/2 in tall. Another Naval Enlistment form dated 20 Sep 1862 at Boston has similar data: age 31, blue eyes, dark hair, light complexion, and 5 ft 9 1/2 in tall. On another Naval Enlistment form at Boston, Oct 1863, William E. Remington at that time was age 40, born in Warwick, had blue eyes, brown hair, and light complexion, and was 5 ft 9 1/2 in tall. It is the same individual even though his age varies. | Remington, William E. (I29285)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William H. & Harriet A. Aborn are living at Providence, RI, in Ward 5. With them is Sarah T. Aborn, age 45. | Aborn, Captain William Henry (I11197)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William is age 22, living with his mother and others at Warren, Bristol Co., RI. In the 1880 Federal Census, it may be this couple, William A. & Maria L. Remington, both aged 52, who are living in Geneseo, Henry Co., Illinois. Their birthplaces and those of their parents match this couple. Yes, it must be. In the 1870 Federal Census, at Davenport, Scott Co., Iowa, this household is listed: William Remington 40 MA, Maria Remington 38 MA, Henry Remington 14 RI, Maria Remington 3 IA, Charles Talbot 20 RI, Harriet Remmington 65 MA, & Mary Coleman 20 Ireland. William and his brother John may have married sisters, as both wives have the surname Cole. | Remington, William Augustus (I05672)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William is age 23, living in Warwick, RI, with his parents and siblings. He is a miner. William married in 1851, subsequently went south to Georgia, but presumably returned by the time his first wife Chloe died in 1856. After this he went back to Georgia, where he can be found in later censuses. In a deed dated 13 Nov 1853 at Warwick, William A. Remington was said to be "of Marietta in the State of Georgia." Henry A. & Sally Ann Remington are also named in this deed. William was widowed, probably twice. In the 1860 Federal Census, living at Marietta, Cobb Co., GA, in the household of G. T. Northup & family, are the following: W. A. Remington, 33 b. NJ, a carpenter; F. J. Remington, 24 b. NY (next to name it says William -- perhaps meaning his wife?); and Ella Remington, 1 b. GA. This is almost certainly William Aborn Remington of RI (see census data for 1870). In the 1870 Federal Census, there is a William A. Remington, age 42, b. RI, living at Cartersville, Bartow, GA. This is the correct age for William Aborn Remington. Also in the home are Ellen L. Remington, 11; William H. Remington, 9; and George T. Remington, 5; these three children were all born in Georgia. He has no wife in the home, so it is reasonable to assume that his wife, mother of these children, has died. They are living next to or near to Simeon & Hester Smith and family. In the 1880 Federal Census, William & Mary (assumed third wife) and their family are residing at 3rd Ward, District 13, Athens, Clarke Co., GA; W. A. Remington is 50, Mary E. is 36, Earnest W. is 7, and Lola G. is 5. It is possible that William had another daughter named Marietta, because back in RI, the 1870 Federal Census lists a Marrietta Remington, age 14, b. GA (c1856), living in Providence with William's parents, Henry & Sally Remington. She could be the daughter of Chloe, because they must have gone to Georgia and then back to Massachusetts, where Chloe's death is in the Rehoboth, MA, vital records. This is one possible scenario. (see above note concerning deed dated 13 Nov 1853) However, the RI Death Index lists a daughter of William & Chloe who would have been born c1856 -- Carrie C. Remington, who died 31 Mar 1876. The name Carrie does not sound at all like Marietta, so it is not certain that they are the same individual -- unless she was called by very different names at times. From the web site newenglandancestors.org -- see "Rehoboth, MA, vital records": "1851 REMINGTON, William A., aged 23, of Providence, son of H. A. and Sally A., and Chloe Carpenter, aged 20, of Rehoboth, daughter of Asaph and Caroline, married by Rev. Charles P. Grosvenor June 8, 1851. Int. June 8, 1851. 8 6 Marriage." (This is very likely the first marriage for this particular William.) "1856 REMINGTON - , of William and Chloe, 1 day, Nov. 11, 1856 8 14 Death" "1856 REMINGTON Chloe, wife of William A., 26y 1m 9d, Dec. 24, 1856 8 15 Death" See DAR Founders & Patriots Line # 4617. | Remington, William Aborn (I11980)

| In the 1850 Federal Census, William N. Whitford is age 54, widowed, and living at West Greenwich, RI, with his recently widowed mother, Sarah Whitford, age 79. Also in the household are James A. & Charles C. Whitford, probably sons of William (I have made that assumption here); Sarah M. Gorton, 7; Abby Matteson, 52; Sheffield R. Remington, 37; & Mary Green, 70. | Whitford, William N. (I01973)
| In the 1850 Federal Census, William W. & Hannah Barton, ages 45 & 39 RI, are living at Abington, Luzerne Co., PA. They have nine children, all b PA. Remington 15, Alice Hambly 22, Ann or Amy Hambly 20, and Hannah Hambly 6. In the 1860 Tiverton Census, residence #57, Benjamin is listed as age 77. Living in the household with him are Gardner 40, Amy Borden 35(?), Gilbert Borden 35, Hannah G. Hambly 16, and George G. Hambly 8. Gardner and Amy are two of Benjamin's children; Gilbert is Amy's husband, and the other two may be Gardner's children. | HAMBLY, Deacon Benjamin III (I00746)
| In the 1850, 1860, & 1870 Federal Censuses, Henry & his wife (Elitia or Lydia or Lida A.) and children are living at Ellisburg, Jefferson Co., NY. They are with his parents Henry & Betsey. In 1850 the children are as follows: Ellen 16, Hannah 12, Laura 7, George H. 5, & Harriet E. 2, all b NY. Also in the household are Albert & Hannah Powers, ages 22 & 20. In 1860 the children are: Laurie 16, George 15, Lydia 12, Mary 8, & Preston 2. In 1870 the children are: George H. 25, Mary 18, & Preston P. 12. Also in the household is Hattie, 32 (who is she?). | King, Henry Allen (I22153)
| In the 1851 census, "Cat" is age 23 and living with her mother and stepfather and family at Hucknall-under-Huthwaite, England. | Coleman, Catherine "Kitty" (I12113)

| In the 1851 census, Samuel and Eliza, ages 30 and 28, are living at 10 Bancroft Lane, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. They have four children: Harriett 9, Elizabeth 7, James 5, and Gilbert 2 wks. Samuel is a cotton stockinger and Eliza is a seamer. | Slack, Samuel (I16843)
| In the 1851 census, Simeon & Elizabeth (Wilson) (Coleman) Richards are living at Hucknall-under-Huthwaite with their children (and stepchildren): Matilda, Cat, Elizabeth, Sarah, Ann, Hannah, William, Samuel, & Mary. | Richards, Simeon (I12111)
| In the 1851 census, William & Ann are living on Bancroft Lane with his mother Elizabeth. They have three children: Harriett, Frederic, and Charles. Several other Slack families are living on the same street. In the 1851 census, it appears that Ann is a widow age 62, living with her two sons. However, William is also there, age 62, a lodger. Perhaps the census taker was confused. | Slack, William (I16834)
| In the 1855 MA Census, John O. & June A. Remington, ages 27 and 19, are living at Becket, MA, with hsi parents, John & Sarah. In the 1870 and 1880 Federal Censuses, John O. & Jane A. Remington are living at Becket, Berkshire Co., MA, with and near other family members. In 1880, Emily Fuller, age 70, is with them, possibly Jane's mother; in addition, John's brother Alonzo is there, apparently paralyzed; and a nephew, Frank Rust, 19. They are next door to Stephen and his daughter Nettie Green. It appears that John was the informant for the death of his brother Amasa Alonzo in 1904. | Remington, John Orlowe (I11654)

| In the 1860 census his name is writtne as Augustin. | Remington, Austin Willing (I13343)
| In the 1860 census she is listed as Highly; in 1870 she is Hyhly. In 1880 she is married and is Hily Warman. In 1910 she is Polly H. | Remington, Hilda "Hily" (I11806)
| In the 1860 census, David is age 23, still living with his parents in Dartmouth, MA. It appears that David had a very brief first marriage, as there are two marriage records less than a year apart. It is almost certain that it is the same individual, David C. Rounds. Before the first marriage, his first wife was living with David's uncle, William Remington, and family in Fenton, MI. Obviously David left MA and went to MI where two of his mother's brothers had settled. Marriage to David Rounds was a second marriage for Sarah (Fox) Cornell. In the federal census of 1910, David C. and Sarah B. Rounds are living in St. Louis, MI. From findagrave.com -- "Death certificate shows David C. Rounds was the son of Joseph Rounds and Mary Remington (both of Rhode Island), male, white, married, farmer, 30 years retired, born September 19, 1836 Massachusetts and died on December 18, 1911 in St. Louis, Gratiot Co., Mich at the age of 75 years 2 months and 29 days, cause of death Disease of Heart. Informant Mrs. Sarah B. Rounds of St. Louis. No date of burial given, burial place St. Louis, Michigan." | Rounds, David C. (I28785)
