761 Alta & Afton were twins, but I am not sure of their sex. Remington, Alta Jackson (I10172)

762 Although his given age varies greatly in the censuses, Thomas probably was born between 1821 and 1825, because in the 1840 census he is likely the male 15 < 20.

Thomas Henry is mentioned in the 21 Oct 1843 will of his grandfather, Benedict Remington. He is "Henry" in the 1850 Federal Census, where he age 27 and a mariner, living with his parents and aunt & uncle in East Greenwich, RI.

In the 1860 Federal Census, Thomas H. & Mary E. Remington are ages 31 & 29, living at Bristol, RI, with their two daughters, Anneta & Ada. Thomas is a seaman.

In 1870 the family is still at Bristol. Thomas H. is 47, Mary E. is 39, and they have three children: Annetta G., William H., & Harriet N. Thomas's occupation is carpenter.

In 1880 they are still at Bristol. Thomas H., a ship carpenter, is 55; Mary E. is 48; two of their children are in the household: William & Hattie N.

Thomas's age is not consistent (est. dob 1823, 1825, 1829); but Mary's is (dob 1831/32).
Remington, Thomas Henry (I13656)

763 Although I have not found a birth record for Hannah, the marriage entry identifies Hannah as daughter of "Stephen & Penelope." Remington, Hannah (I02939)

764 Although Lydia's birth is recorded at Scituate, it says she was born in Cranston. Jenckes, Lydia (I14150)

765 Although Samuel's birth is recorded at Scituate, it says he was born in Cranston.

Samuel's will, dated 23 Jan 1813 at Scituate, RI, mentions his wife Abigail, and the following children: Joseph, Amos, Benjamin, Cyril C., Hannah (Potter), Abigail (Smith), Sarah, & Mary (the last two under 23).

I would think Samuel must be buried at the Rockland Lot, where his wife and some of his children are buried, along with their spouses. However, I can't find him in the cemetery database. Perhaps his stone is missing. (needs more research)
Jenckes, Samuel (I13702)

766 Although Susanna's birth is recorded at Scituate, it says she was born in Cranston. Jenckes, Susanna (I14148)

767 Although this individual was a member of the Shaker society where David & Sybil lived and died, I question whether he belongs in this family group because the 1850 Federal Census says he was born in MA. I do not know if the family ever lived in MA. As far as I can determine, they lived in VT and NY. However, the census information could be incorrect. Remington, John (I08080)

768 Although Wait's birth is recorded at Scituate, it says she was born in Cranston. Jenckes, Wait (I14149)

769 Althought there is a year or two difference in her age in the 1930 census and the birth date in the SSDI, I am making an assumption that this information pertains to this particular Lillian Remington:
Name: LILLIAN REMINGTON
SSN: 166-50-1718
Last Residence: 18037 Coplay, Lehigh, PA
Born: 25 Oct 1884
Died: Jan 1973
State (Year) SSN issued: PA (1973 )
Fleming, Lillian M. (I14323)

770 Alva was a businessman in Milwaukee, WI.

In the 1870 Federal Census, Alva & Marion are living at Genesee, Waukesha Co., WI, with their two sons. In 1880 they are at Milwaukee, WI, with their three children.

In the 1900 Federal Census, Alvah and his second wife Anna H., ages 58 & 48, are living at Waukesha, Waukesha Co., WI. With them are two sons, James & John, ages 10 & 4, and Alvah's widowed brother Daniel, age 69.

In 1910 Alvah is still at Waukesha, WI, with his wife and two sons.
Remington, Alvah (I14440)

771 Alvin & Hannah lived in western MA and NY State. "In "Pioneer History of Cortland County, New York' pp. 211-213 it is stated that Alvin Pease erected a gristmill at Truxton, NY in 1809, and later put in carding machines. Also that Joseph Sweetland was the first miller of Tuxton/Truxton." (from "Remington Memoranda") Pease, Alvin H. (I06390)

775 Amey & Jesse were step-siblings. Hammond, Amey (I22320)

776 Amey Borden was the widow of Josiah Thornton when she married Edward Fenner. Borden, Amey (I14567)

777 Amey was the widow of William Remington when she married Anthony. Mathewson, Amey (I08867)

778 Amos and Mary are buried in Exeter Historical Cemetery # 19.

From Craig Rice's notes at Rootsweb's Worldconnect: "The 1774 census shows Amos with his wife and 2 children, a boy and a girl both under 16. The 1782 census shows Amos with 2 boys and 1 girl under 15 and one black, living in Exeter. Amos being somewhat advanced in years wrote his will 17 Apr 1823 which was proved 4 May 1835. It mentions sons John (living), Pardon, Amos Jr, and Samuel Stafford. Daughters Mary Wells wife of John Wells deceased and Hannah Whitford, single. It also mentions land of John Whitford late of Exeter, deceased. Witnesses were Stephen Reynolds, Samuel Reynolds and Abigail Reynolds. John Whitford of Exeter, yeoman sold to Amos Whitford of Exeter, labourer 15 acres of land bounded by the highway, John Gardner and the grantor for 1300 pounds. This transaction was dated 30 Nov 1764 and recorded 4 Dec 1764. Signed John Whitford and witnessed by Daniel Gill, Jr and John Whitford, Jr. Source: Exeter Land Evidences, RI Gen Reg Vol 18 - Lib of Mich. This could be the land referred to in Amos' will. It would have been sold to him by his father and witnessed by his brother John Jr. Daniel Gill Jr. was his brother-in-law, his sister Mercy's husband."
Whitford, Amos (I01428)

779 Amos Gorton is listed at Wallingford, Rutland Co., VT, in the 1840 Federal Census. Gorton, Amos (I16751)

780 Amos Greene is mentioned as a grandson in the 1833 will of Job Whaley. I have made an assumption that he is a son of Job's daughter Esther, also mentioned in the will. Greene, Amos (I26324)

781 Amos Remington moved to Wisconsin about 1845. His son, Delesone D. Remington, was born in Wisconsin in 1849. Amos later moved to Missouri and then to Page County, Iowa in about 1867.

In the 1850 Federal Census, the family is at Spring Valley, Rock Co., WI, with their two oldest children. In 1860 they are still there, with children "Delerane," Alma, Alfretta, & "Cenith."

In the 1870 Federal Census, Amos, 49, and Matilda, 46, are living at Buchanan, Page Co., Iowa. With them are children Delavan D., 21; Alma F.(?), 18; & Alfareth (?), 15. The children were all born in Wisconsin.

In 1880 Amos & Matilda are still at Buchanan. With them is daughter Alfarata (?), age 24.
Remington, Amos (I09079)

782 Amy (later wife of Palmer Briggs) is mentioned as daughter of Sylvester in the 1807 will of William Willcox of SK. According to the will, Sylvester is son of Robert, William's brother.

Note the surname is often spelled Willcox.

Her name is sometimes given as Almy.

In son Nelson's death record, his mother's name is given as Amy Perry Briggs. Was Perry a middle name, perhaps named after her mother? Another possibility is that Palmer married two women, both named Amy.
Wilcox, Amy (I26968)

783 Amy is mentioned as deceased in the will of her father dated 9 July 1818. The will names her children as: Rodman, Benjamin, Tillinghast, Amy, & Brinton. Tillinghast, Amy (I14722)

784 Amy may have been a daughter of Paul Sherman & Amy Curtin (needs more research). She is most likely a descendant of our Shearman/Sherman ancestors of Portsmouth, RI. Sherman, Amy (I05787)

785 Amy's family was "of Granville, CT" when she was married. Her full name may have been Emeline.

Could her birthplace have really been Granville, Hampden Co., MA?
Gillett, Amy (I08110)

786 Amy's parents were of Voluntown, CT.

Some genealogies have her maiden name as Corey. I obtained her name and the names of her parents from an old obituary in the Narragansett Times, 18 Sep 1803 (Simeon Whitford).

In the Federal Census of 1910, Amy A. Whitford is a widow age 69, living at South Kingstown, RI. According to census data, she has had 13 children, all of whom are still living. In the household with her are: Mary W. 42 single, Amy T. 41 single, Lydia P. 39 single, Catherine S. 33 single, & George W. 29 single; also Moses A. Harrington, 15.
Cary, Amy Ann (I21058)

787 An Abigail Remington, daughter of Matthew deceased, married Anthony Olin, son of Henry Jr., in 1793. Is Anthony's father the second husband of Abigail's mother, Martha (Randall) Remington? Or did Martha marry Henry Sr.? (needs more research) Family F01798

788 An Arnold web site says she was born 15 Feb 1583, a daughter of Thomas Peake of Muchelney, Somerset, England. Peak, Christian (I04659)

789 An Edward Bezely witnessed the 12 Oct 1808 will of Caleb King of Providence.

The family list at findagrave.com shows 11 children for Edward, 8 of which died in infancy. They are also listed at RI Cemetery Database under the family name Bezeley.

Matthew Cook's family tree shows Edward's parents as John & Elizabeth Beazley, born c 1765-1770 RI. No source noted.

Could he be the Edward Beasley/Beazley of Franklin, MA, who married Charlotte Smith in 1809 at Bellingham?

On 20 April 1843 the Weekly Globe reported that Mr. Edward Bezely, who had been employed as a lamplighter in Providence for 17 years, was discharged from his job by the vindictive Whig authorities because he had voted for the Democratic ticket.
Beasley, Edward T. (I23603)

790 An email from Joanne Bushey has Clara's birthdate as 20 Feb 1849. Bunker, Clarissa "Clara" Allen (I14793)

791 An email from Linda Poast says that Simeon was born and died the same day: 20 Apr 1846. This is confirmed by cemetery data online at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/thomas/cemeteries/oldcem.txt Remington, Simeon Smith (I14012)

792 An entry from Beaman's Vital Records/Births From Death Records, vol. 12, A-J:

Mary A. Hambly, dtr. of Benjamin and Peace Hambly, b. 1811 Tiverton;
widow of Mr. Remington; d. 1 Apr 1868 Tiverton [TiD 1-40]

Her middle name was either Ann(e) or Anna. Her son (Benjamin's) first daughter was named Mary Anna; also, there was an Anna Hambly born in 1789 in Tiverton; she was Mary's aunt, a sister of her father, Benjamin Hambly, who was born in 1783 in Tiverton.

In the 1840 census, Mary Anne is probably living with her parents at Tiverton.

The 1850 census microfilm for Tiverton shows Benjamin Hambly, a 64-year-old farmer, and Peace Hambly, age 63. Living with them are Marianne Remington, 39; Benjamin Remington, a 19-year-old laborer; and John H. Remington, 15. Other household members are Gardner Hambly, 29, and Ann/Amy (?) Hambly, 20. They are Marianne's younger siblings.
HAMBLY, Mary Anne (I00345)

793 An entry in "The Christian Telescope" of 5 Feb 1825 announced the marriage of Harriet A. Remington, daughter of Capt. Charles Remington, dec'd., to Capt. William H. Aborn at Pawtuxet, RI.

(see "Marriages & Deaths from The Christian Telescope 21 Aug 1824 - Aug 1826" copied by Martha A. Benns, 1937, @ RIHSL: F78P53, p. 9)

William & Harriet were married by Rev. Mr. Shurtleff, who was probably the Rev. Flavell Shurtleff who married other couples in the Warwick-Cranston area.
Family F04393

794 An online Dyer genealogy shows her year of birth as 1677 [http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dyer/will_ri/d1.htm#g3].

Elizabeth's paternal grandmother was Mary Dyre/Dyer, famed Quaker martyr who was hanged on Boston Common 1 June 1660.
Dyer, Elizabeth (I11156)

795 An online family tree traces Anudrey's ancestry back to King Henry II, through his mistress Ida de Tony. This needs more research to be confirmed. BARLOWE, Audrey (I01731)

796 An online genealogy at Rootsweb has his first name as Jacob, but that is incorrect. It comes from the 1920 Federal Census, but must be a census-taker's error. That year J. Clifford & Hattie are living at Fenton, Genesee Co., MI, and his mother Emma is with them. In the 1930 Federal Census, "Cliford J. Remington" is age 62 and living at 630 Adelaide St. in Fenton, Genesee Co., MI, with his wife "Hariet C." and daughter Marguerite, aged 40, as well as his mother Emma J., aged 84.

In the Federal Census of 15 Apr 1910, J. Clifford Remington and his wife 43 and his wife Harriet 44 are living on Leroy St., at Fenton, Genesee Co., MI. With them are: Lloyd 17, Bryan 15, & John 5; also a servant Peter Dubois 64. Emma Remington, widowed mother of J. Clifford, is next door or with them.

In the 1870 census he is listed as Jay C. Probably the census-taker heard J. C., and wrote it as Jay C.

In the 1900 Federal Census, Clifford & Harriet C. Remington, ages 32 & 34, are living at Fenton, Genesee Co., MI. They have three children: Mabel M. 10, Lloyd R. 7, & Bryan N. 5. They are next door to Clifford's parents and brother.
Remington, J. Clifford (I05608)

797 An online genealogy has her dates as 1740 - 1782. Rounds, Roby (I24972)

798 An online message board gives her name as Hope Borden. In her children's birth records, she is Hope. UNKNOWN, Hope (I28363)

799 An online transcription at Georgia Genweb has his date of birth as 2 June 1779. Perhaps it should read 1799.

From cemetery information at usgwarchives.net: "Very Early settler. Was born in New York."
Seixas, Edward (I10627)

800 Andrew Belcher was the original proprietor of the Blue Anchor Tavern in Cambridge, MA. Later it was taken over and run by his brother-in-law, Jonathan Remington. Belcher, Andrew Jr. (I16074)
